The design is based on one of the most important verses in Deuteronomy, Deuteronomy 6:4: “Hear, O Israel: the LORD (YHWH) (is) our God, the LORD is one.” The verse constitutes the Shema, a definitive statement of Jewish identity. The term used for God is YHWH (יהוה in Hebrew). I really dug the look of the Hebrew letters and decided to mess around with those.
